Zakopane, Poland
Zakopane is at the foothills of the Tatras mountain range between Poland and Czech Republic. Its a ski resort with a cable car that operates in the summer so that tourists can go hiking at the highest elevations. There was a very long line to get on the cable car. We were in the line for an hour or so and it seemed that the line wasn't moving because escorted groups kept getting priority over the regular folk. After a while someone offered to sell us their spot in line and we paid up and moved to the front of the line. This didn't go over quite well with some of the folk but my Mysterious Companion quickly settled them down.
We were on the mountain for quite some time and we almost did not make the last cable car trip down. We would have had to walk for hours if we had missed it.
