Ulm, Germany (1)
The three of us arrived in Ulm Thursday evening and had dinner together. Friday we visited Brueninghaus all day. My companions flew out to Grenoble, France that evening so I was by myself again.
I always stayed at the Movenpick Hotel across the Danube river from the town center. There's a walking bridge by the hotel so its a short distance. You can also walk along the river and see an occasional rat. There's an interesting restaurant in Ulm along the river that was restored while in a state of collapse. The floors and walls are crooked. I ate there with a stranger because there weren't enough tables to go around. I drank a couple dopplebocks with my meal. Ulm is also home to the world's tallest church spire. For a small fee, you can walk to the top. Its quite exiting because you're exposed to the elements on a narrow spiraling staircase as you make your way up to the platform near the top. When you get there you can see the bavarian mountains from a couple hundred miles away on a clear day. You gotta do this climb if you're anywhere near Ulm. I visited Ulm another four times. All the links in this travelogue will show the same pictures.
