San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico
My good friend Dave from work accompanied me on this Backroads bicycle trip in Baja California. This was a six day, five night camping trip. It was the last year Backroads offered the camping version of this trip.
We camped on the beaches except for the night we stayed at the "Hotel California" in Todos Santos. Dave was my tent mate. The group included seven women and seventeen men. The day before the trip began, Dave and I flew from St. Louis to Phoenix to catch a flight on Aero California to San Jose Del Cabo. The flight was overbooked and a woman was desperately trying to get on the plane. She claimed she was getting married in Cabo San Lucas and had to get on the flight for the wedding. She created quite a scene. A passenger happened to be a pilot and offered to ride up front with Aero's pilots. The Captain agreed and she was able to get on board. Everyone cheered. The hotel many of us stayed at the night before the bicycle trip began was at the InterContinental Presidente Los Cabos Resort, so there was some bonding time before the trip actually began. The picture is a scan of the postcard I sent to the "Mysterious Companion" from the Backroads Canadian Rockies bicycle trip. dave vanskike, dorothy donnelly, leonard fieber, richard knapp, molly little, bonnie mcdonald, debbie rappaport, lee scherer, bekki van voorhis, peter wayne, alan chalupnicek, duane duval, robert heitzman, george korsh, sandy little, cecil mcmillan, mark riccardi, sara suchman, kelly deis, richard edelstein, steve kanner, maureen kurtz, eric malden, margaret miller, schuyler robbins, peter tomaney, gregory wagner
