Krakow, Poland (1)

That is not my broken down car in the center of Krakow.

The company I worked at always had a two week shutdown in July. This year I went to Poland for one week and then on another Backroads Bicycle Trip the second week.

I flew into Vienna and took a train to Katowice. I met some friendly Polish people on the train who kept insisting that I eat & drink with them. In Katowice, I switched trains and made my way to Krakow. The tracks were in poor condition and the train swayed so much I was sure it was going to roll over.

The Mysterious Companion greeted me upon my arrival and gave me a personal tour of Krakow. We went to the underground salt mines which is a must see if you ever go to Krakow. Unfortunately, ex-President George Bush was in town and was scheduled to have dinner in the mines. I say unfortunately because the elevators were shut down and we were stuck in the mines for hours while security was being setup.
