Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy

I drove into town late Saturday afternoon. I didn't have a room reserved so I walked around and asked about prices. I finally settled on the hotel in the picture: a single room for about $42. What a deal.

I walked around a bit but there didn't seem to be much going on so I decided to call it a night and went to bed. However, I woke up around 10:00 PM and looked out the window and saw the town filled with people. I decided to go out and headed to this bar that had a $15 cover charge (drinks included). There was a live band inside that was singing James Brown's "I feel good". They were great. People were dancing on the tables in their ski boots.

The next day (Sunday), I got up early to go skiing. I had brought my own ski boots and rented the skis there. I was going to the window to buy a lift ticket but was approached by an Italian who offered to sell me his ticket for half price. He said he had bought it the previous day but decided not to ski. I was very suspicious, but he seemed like an honest guy so I ended up buying it. The lift ticket worked fine. I skiied for about five hours and called it a day. That afternoon I drove back to Bologna and to my hotel in Bazzano for my visit to Mec-Track on Monday.
