Chichen Itza, Mexico
One day we rented a Suzuki "jeep" and drove to Chichen Itza. Along the way there was this speed bump, and standing by the speedbump were five children none older than five.
One child was holding a baby. The others were holding wild flowers. As we approached the speed bump the children starting running up to our jeep. I didn't stop and after I got over the bump the children started chasing the jeep begging for money.
I didn't see adults anywhere. It was really creepy and pathetic.
At Chichen Itza these girls in the picture were standing on a path doing nothing. We gave them a few coins.
We were hungry after walking around the Chichen Itza ruins so we ate some tacos at a local restaurant. That was a mistake to be regretted for another week.
